Seven Dips

01
Charred Jalapeño & Shallot Dip
Oven-roasted jalapeños, shallots, and garlic blended with a touch of mayo, lemon juice, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Smoky, fresh, creamy without being heavy. Remove some or all of the jalapeño seeds and membranes to control the heat.

02
Rustic Mixed Olive Tapenade
A mix of colorful olives, roughly pulsed for texture, with fresh herbs, good olive oil, lemon juice, and black pepper. A little mayo is optional for a creamier finish. Taste before adding salt, since olives are naturally salty.

03
Shortcut Matbucha
Tomatoes, peppers, jalapeños, and garlic get a quick pulse in the blender before cooking down with olive oil, paprika, salt, pepper, and cilantro. All that slow-cooked flavor, without spending time chopping everything individually.

04
Everything Green Herb Dip
Parsley, cilantro, dill, basil, scallions, shallots, red chili, lemon juice, and olive oil. Blend until finely chopped but still textured. Optionally add a little mayo.
The extra trick: Use some as a marinade for salmon, then top the cooked fish with something crunchy.

05
Roasted Carrot & Silan Dip with Crispy Shallots
Sweet, savory, slightly smoky, and a gorgeous golden-orange color that will look amazing next to your green and red dips.
How I make it
Roast carrots with olive oil, salt, smoked paprika, and cumin until caramelized. Blend with tahini, lemon juice, garlic, a little silan, and cold water until creamy. Finish with crispy shallots, chopped parsley, and olive oil.
It's a little different from the usual Shabbos lineup, but still very approachable.

06
Pink Beet Hummus
Ingredients
- 1 can chickpeas, drained
- 1 small cooked beet
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 1 garlic clove
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Toppings
- Olive oil
- Balsamic glaze
- Pomegranate seeds
- Chopped pistachios
How I make it
Blend all ingredients until smooth, adding a little cold water as needed. Spoon into a bowl and finish with olive oil, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, pomegranate seeds, and pistachios.

07
Chunky Marinated White Bean Dip
Ingredients
- 1 can white beans, drained
- 1 small shallot, finely chopped
- 2 scallions, chopped
- Handful of fresh parsley, chopped

How I make it
Lightly mash some of the beans with a fork, leaving most whole. Add the remaining ingredients and toss together. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes before serving.

The Traditional Two

01
Moroccan Carrot Salad with Garlic & Cilantro
Tender carrot rounds tossed with olive oil, fresh garlic, paprika, cumin, lemon juice, and plenty of cilantro.
Little twist: Add a pinch of lemon zest at the end for brightness. Easy to prep ahead, and even better after the flavors settle.

02
Roasted Eggplant & Pepper Salad
Roast diced eggplant and red peppers until soft and caramelized. Toss with garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, parsley, salt, and black pepper.
Little twist: A small splash of red wine vinegar gives it a tangy finish. Delicious at room temperature, with plenty of texture for scooping onto challah.
The Creative Three

01
Crunchy Green Everything Salad
Finely chopped cucumbers, celery, scallions, jalapeño, dill, and parsley with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
Little twist: Add finely chopped Granny Smith apple for a tart, crisp bite. Bright, juicy, and refreshing alongside richer dips.

02
Roasted Sweet Potato & Red Onion Salad
Small cubes of sweet potato, roasted until caramelized, tossed with finely sliced red onion, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, and a little cumin.
Little twist: A handful of toasted sesame seeds for crunch. A little sweet, a little savory, and delicious served at room temperature.

03
Lemony Radish & Fennel Salad
Thinly sliced radishes and fennel, fresh mint, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, flaky salt, and black pepper.
Little twist: A few pomegranate seeds for little bursts of sweetness and color. Crisp, refreshing, and particularly pretty on the Shabbos table.
